Description:The Technical Trainer for the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) program is responsible for planning, developing and delivering training programs and procedures for technical products or solutions. Duties include analyzing training needs and developing programs to address them; developing lesson plans, training materials, course content and methodology; and managing delivery of training across multiple formats. The technical trainer will deliver of adult focused training to Navy Sailors, engineers, and maintenance personnel supporting the CPS missile system. The role blends deep technical knowledge of the CPS architecture with proven instructional design skills to ensure the workforce can safely and efficiently execute load, launch, test, and sustainment activities. This position works closely with program managers, systems engineers, and test & evaluation teams to keep training content aligned with evolving system specifications and mission requirements.
Responsibilities include:
• Conduct needs‑analysis with subject‑matter experts (SMEs) to identify skill gaps and define training objectives for all CPS functional areas (Weapons Control System, Advance Payload Module, Pier Side Support Equipment).
• Design learner centered curriculum (ADDIE) that emphasizes relevance, problem based learning, and immediate applicability to daily job tasks.
• Develop instructional materials (slides, instructor guide, hands on labs, scenario based simulations) that incorporate principles of andragogy: self direction, experience integration, goal oriented content, and intrinsic motivation.
• Conduct assessments, quizzes, and practical evaluations to verify mastery of CPS systems and procedures.
• Update training content in response to configuration changes, software upgrades, and lessons‑learned from test events.
• Provide post‑training support and mentorship, acting as a technical point of contact for trainees and operational teams.
Basic Qualifications:• Experience in technical training, instruction, or curriculum development for defense or aerospace systems.
• Familiarity with missile systems, launch control consoles, guidance and navigation, propulsion, and safety/launch procedures.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver both classroom and virtual training; experience with adult learning principles.
Desired Skills:• Previous experience on the Zumwalt / Virginia Class
• Previous experience with Tomahawk
• Previous experience as a Gunners Mate / Fire Controlman
• Strong understanding of the ADDIE curriculum development model.
• Secret security clearance

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
