About your role:

As a Software Development Engineering – Advisor I, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality mainframe applications. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that align with our business goals and client needs, ensuring stability and scalability in a high-volume transaction environment.
What you'll do:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of mainframe-based applications to support Fiserv's business goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into COBOL/JCL/CICS/DB2 technical specifications.
- Perform coding, testing, and debugging of mainframe programs to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Maintain and improve existing mainframe codebases, optimize batch and online processes, and lead peer review processes.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance on mainframe best practices to enhance team capabilities.
Experience you'll need to have:
- 6+ years of experience in mainframe application development.
- 6+ years of experience in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
- 6+ years of experience with mainframe utilities, performance tuning, and debugging tools.
- 6+ years of experience with batch and online transaction processing systems
1+ year of experience with Fiserv applications and systems.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field (or foreign equivalent degree) or equivalent work experience.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Experience in the financial services industry.
- Knowledge of mainframe modernization strategies (e.g., API integration, migration to distributed systems).
- Exposure to CI/CD concepts in a mainframe environment.
