Job Title
Senior Solution Architect — DPS
What does a successful Senior Solutions Architect do at Fiserv?
You define and execute the multi‑quarter architecture strategy and roadmap for observability and modernization across treasury and payments platforms—architecting a unified observability platform (metrics, logs, traces, APM, synthetic monitoring), embedding telemetry into CI/CD and runbooks, and driving modernization efforts like replatforming, microservices, containerization, service mesh, serverless and API modernization.
What you will do:
- Define and execute the multi‑quarter observability and modernization architecture roadmap for treasury and payments, delivering a unified observability platform and embedding telemetry across CI/CD, runbooks, and operational tooling.
- Lead architecture reviews and set technical standards and reference patterns to drive consistent engineering practices and modernization (replatforming, microservices, containerization, service mesh, serverless, API modernization).
- Provide expert technical guidance to engineering squads and guide cross‑functional delivery with product, SRE, operations, risk/compliance, and vendor teams, identifying dependencies and mitigating technical risks.
- Own architecture governance for payments observability and modernization, partnering with security and compliance to align designs with regulatory controls and payment‑specific standards.
- Define, track, and improve reliability KPIs (SLOs/SLIs, MTTR, latency, error rates, deployment frequency); lead post‑incident architecture reviews and remediation to increase resilience and reduce recurrence.
- Serve as the technical owner for vendor and cloud engagements: evaluate and select observability and modernization tooling, influence SLA negotiations, and recommend architecture patterns that balance performance, resilience, cost, and security.
What you will need to have:
- 15+ years of professional experience in payment processing or treasury environments.
- Proven delivery of an enterprise‑grade observability platform with defined SLOs/SLIs and automated alerting, and ability to demonstrate measurable reliability improvements within 6–12 months.
- Record of leading multi‑quarter modernization programs (≥2 quarters) that include replatforming, API modernization, and decomposition of legacy components.
- Hands‑on experience across ≥5 technology categories: cloud provider (AWS/GCP/Azure), event streaming (Kafka), service mesh (Istio/Linkerd), IaC (Terraform or CloudFormation), and observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, Jaeger/Zipkin, ELK/EFK or commercial APMs).
- Demonstrated senior individual‑contributor leadership: mentoring senior engineers/architects, establishing architecture standards/reference designs, and influencing ≥5 cross‑functional stakeholder groups (product, SRE, operations, risk/compliance, vendors) while owning vendor/cloud engagements and SLA alignment
