Job Summary and Qualifications
The Transport Paramedic will operate on the HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital EMS Transport Services Team. The primary duty of the Transport Paramedic will be the safe and effective treatment and transport of patients on the EMS Transport Services ambulance. The Transport Paramedic will respond to EMS Call-Center requests, prioritize patient care, coordinate with other healthcare providers, and facilitate transport appropriately. The Paramedic responds to medical emergencies and provides advanced critical care during transport to the hospital. As the first healthcare provider at the scene, the Paramedic partners with firefighters and police in evaluating the situation. The Paramedic offers basic and advanced lifesaving support, administers treatments, and directs EMTs in delivering patient care consistent with training and level of certification.The Paramedic responds to medical emergencies and provides advanced critical care during the transport to the hospital. As the first healthcare provider at the scene, the Paramedic partners with firefighters and police in evaluating the situation. The Paramedic offers basic and advanced lifesaving support, administers treatments, and directs EMTs in delivering patient care consistent with training and level of certification.
What you will do in this role:
- Ensures the readiness of HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital EMS ambulances for service.
- Performs checks on ambulance mechanical systems and all included medical equipment to verify full and safe working conditions.
- Completes daily supply checkoffs, checks for dated equipment expiration, and stocks as appropriate.
- Maintains an aesthetically clean and safe ambulance and associated work area. Reports all issues of ambulance readiness to the Chief of EMS Operations immediately.
- Available to render BLS and/or ALS mutual aid care to other agencies, mass casualty events, and declared disasters as outlined in Florida Statute Ch. 401. Provides care for patients pursuant to the Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support guidelines outlined in F.S. 401.25.
- Operates within Medical Protocols established by the HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital EMS Medical Director.
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of intermediate patient care, to include vital signs, venipuncture, urinary catheterization, cardiac monitoring, 12 lead EKG, setting up intravenous fluids, insert/discontinue IVs/IOs, perform CPR, insert Foley catheter, obtain clean catch urine samples and transport patients
- Operate emergency medical vehicles and respond to calls for aid in emergency situations.
- Evaluate patient conditions to establish the right course of treatment. Providing a variety of emergency medical treatments for injured, sick, or incapacitated persons.
- Perform invasive procedures under adverse conditions.
- Manage non-medical situations such as crowd control and protect 4the valuables of a patient if necessary.
- Lift and transport patients, ensuring patients remain stable during transport.
- Communicate patient data and condition to professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facility.
What qualifications you will need:- Associates degree in emergency medical services/Paramedic or a Certificate of program completion in Emergency Medical Services (EMT/Paramedic) - required
- Currently licensed as a Paramedic per state requirements in accordance with law and regulation - required
- 1 years of experience as a field paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience working in a hospital - required
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS/BCLS) required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ALS/ACLS) required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- EVOC - Emergency Vehicle Operations Course completion certificate or equivalent - required
- Drivers License - This position requires driving an HCA-owned vehicle. The candidate must provide a seven-year driving history from the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles and have no more than six points on their record, with no indication of unsafe driving habits.

- ITLS – International Trauma Life Support provider card - preferred
