Role Definition:
As a Design Engineer, you are responsible for design and development of new components and products, and implementation of new technologies to meet requirements of NPI, cost reduction and localization projects. You will broadly work with cross function teams, including engineering team, NPI team, purchasing team, receiving facility quality team, supply chain team, supplier, etc. to ensure goals are achieved.
Responsibilities:
• New product development from project start to full production, understand voice of customer, define technical specification, design, analysis, development, and validation.
• Creating concepts and directing the design and development of drivetrain products.
• Organize and Facilitate/Lead Design Reviews.
• Develop project plan and implement accordingly to drive the project moving forward.
• Engage in Cost Reduction initiatives with robust validation and implementation plans.
• Collaborate with global design teams, operations, purchasing and the supply base to meet product and design cost targets.
• Utilize key product development processes (Advanced product quality planning, Failure mode effectiveness analysis, etc.) inherent in NPI (new product introduction), CPI (continue product improvement), cost reduction projects.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to support on parts development, supplier’s process, and quality control.

Computer-Aided Design & Engineering:

• Uses CAD to perform basic drafting such as wire frames, solid objects and array of objects.
• Performs routine changes to computerized schematics or drawings.
• Creates views of objects in 2 and 3 dimensions; creates perspective drawings and orthogonal views.
Product Design - MFG:
• Participates in the conception process of a manufacturing product vision.
• Collects and analyzes customer and market requirements, and generates reports.
• Utilizes design methods to implement the construction of a new design model.
• Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a product.
• Assists in the testing and refinement of a new product design.
Product Design and Development:
• Builds three-dimensional models with basic materials.
• Communicate with professionals to understand various requirements of product design.
• Tests and evaluates alternative means of production being considered for use.
• Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a product.
• Assists in building a complex prototype of product.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor or master degree in an accredited Engine / Vehicle / Material / Mechanical Engineering curriculum.
• Drivetrain system and related components (transmission, axle, torque converter, or shaft, etc.) design and manufacturing experiences, especially for rotating components
• Familiar with quality management process and tools, such as APQP (advanced product quality planning), FMEA (failure mode effectiveness analysis), PPAP (production parts approval process), etc.
• Manufacturing knowledge and experience on forging, casting, machining, inspection
• Good English skill in reading, writing, and speaking
