Purpose and Scope:
Amentum at DDHU Hill AFB is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Service Dispatcher to support daily operations and ensure service continuity. This position is responsible for maintaining efficient workflow coordination, providing operational support to drivers and program leadership, and ensuring services are delivered in a timely manner and in accordance with contractual requirements and quality standards.
Job Description:
This position is responsible for the assignment of motor vehicles and drivers for conveyance of freight and compiles lists of available vehicles. The assignment of vehicles is determined by factors such as length and purpose of trip, freight and preference of user. Additional responsibilities include the issuance of keys, record sheets, and driver credentials. The Dispatcher records time of departure, destination, cargo, expected time of return and investigates overdue vehicles. The Dispatcher may confer with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed or damaged merchandise, maintain record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses. The Dispatcher may establish service or delivery routes, supervise loading and un-loading, issue equipment to drivers, (such as hand trucks, dollies, and blankets), direct activities of drivers, assign helpers to drivers, work at vehicle distribution centers, and assign vehicles to customer agencies.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Ensures that Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
- Dispatches personnel and equipment to meet the project needs.
- Check in with team members throughout the day to support workflow efficiency
- Monitors truck locations and movement through constant phone/radio contact to ensure delays are avoided.
- Assist with coordinating job status updates
- Support general service department operations as needed
- Maintain and update the shop’s workflow board to ensure smooth daily operations
- Provides guidance and solutions to Drivers on a variety of project related questions or problems.
- Works directly for the Internal Movement Supervisor to ensure customer satisfaction with pickup and deliveries of material.
- Coordinate and manage the distribution of equipment & personnel to meet project needs and maintain availability levels.
- Establishes priority schedule to complete assigned tasks.
- Keeps records and logbooks, monitors drivers' daily logs and working hours and keeps up with scheduled equipment maintenance.
- Immediately reports injuries & incidents to appropriate parties, assisting with the enforcement of safety practices & policies.
- Track & fill requests made by clients, as well as internal departments and/or other offices.
- Maintains security of equipment in the yard and work with other members of management & supervisory teams to avoid the misuse or abuse of company equipment.
- Occasionally visit job sites and customers to evaluate customer satisfaction and ensure drivers’ teams are in compliance with contract standards.
- Manage inventory and restocking of personal protective equipment and other miscellaneous consumables.
- May assist Health & Safety Manager to ensure drivers are DOT compliant, including the maintenance of Driver Qualification files.

Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must have a current motor vehicle driver's license.
- Must have a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
- Driving record that meets company standards and current DMV printout, required.
- Experience in a dispatcher role.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Office or shop environment with hazardous equipment, moving MHE, obstacles and high-volume activity. Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds for short distances, stoop, bend, kneel, walk, have full dexterity, and correctable vision. Outside work in hot and cold or wet weather is often required. Work environments often have fumes or airborne particles. Noise level is loud. Protective devices are required to avoid injury.
