Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking an Experienced (Level 3) or Senior (Level 4) Project Manager to support the 777X Airplane Safety Engineering team on site in Everett, WA. This is a high-visibility role supporting critical airplane safety certification and regulatory compliance activities for the 777X program.
The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and tracking safety engineering work across the airplane development lifecycle, ensuring disciplined execution, transparency, and readiness in support of program and regulatory commitments. This role operates within a highly regulated, safety-critical environment and requires strong execution rigor balanced with adaptability.
The successful candidate will work effectively within both traditional airplane development program management frameworks and Agile / hybrid delivery models, translating engineering execution into clear, leadership-ready insights. This role requires the ability to lead through influence rather than authority, partnering with engineering leaders, technical authorities, systems safety engineers, and program stakeholders to align priorities, manage dependencies, surface risks, and drive outcomes.
This position also plays a key role in establishing and sustaining modern workflow management and execution visibility, leveraging tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps (ADO) to improve transparency, predictability, and leadership insight across safety engineering workstreams.
This role offers a unique opportunity to directly contribute to the safety, certification, and regulatory success of the 777X airplane while shaping how safety engineering work is planned, executed, and communicated across the organization.
Position Responsibilities:
Program Execution, Readiness & Risk
- Plan, coordinate, and track 777X safety engineering to meet certification and regulatory requirements.
- Manage schedules, milestones, dependencies, risks, and cross-workstream commitments.
- Ensure execution discipline and milestone readiness; proactively identify and mitigate certification risks.
Delivery Enablement & Tooling
- Enable Agile/Kanban/hybrid delivery in a regulated environment; lead planning, backlog management, execution tracking, and continuous improvement.
- Design, configure, and sustain Jira/Azure DevOps workflows, hierarchies, dashboards, and reporting.
Influence & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead through influence across engineering, program, and certification teams.
- Build trusted partnerships with managers, technical leads, and systems safety engineers.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Level 3: 6+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Level 4: 10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of Agile delivery methods (Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid models)
- Hands-on experience using Jira and/or Azure DevOps for workflow and execution management
- Strong communication, organizational, and risk-management skills
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
- Experience supporting airplane safety, certification, systems engineering, or regulatory compliance activities
- 4+ years of experience in project or program management within an engineering or technical environment
- Experience supporting complex development programs with cross-functional stakeholders
- Proven ability to stand up or improve execution workflows and delivery visibility
- Experience creating dashboards and metrics for senior leadership
- Familiarity with airplane development lifecycle and certification processes
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence rather than authority
- PMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, Scrum Master, or equivalent experience
