The Role:
The Vehicle Mechatronic Embedded Controls (VMEC) delivers customer-facing features using a disciplined approach to layered software architecture. The successful candidate is a recognized automotive technical expert who will lead the design, development, testing and implementation of embedded software in the Driver Modes domain.

We’re seeking a highly motivated individual with strong technical skills to influence and gain cross-functional alignment with key leaders in multi-disciplinary teams. Additionally, the Technical Specialist wears many hats possessing a demonstrated ability to develop, coach and mentor team members, provide technical leadership in the Vehicle State product domain and lead technical decisions.
This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle architecture, communication protocols, and software development principles, along with excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse engineering teams.
What You'll Do:

Generates technical solutions for new and major architecture for vehicle state products.

Develop and evaluate engineering designs including complex design analysis.

Harmonize development efforts across the VMEC, promoting a unified approach to achieving SDV vision.

Collaborate cross-functionally with software architecture, systems, software, hardware, validation, and vehicle integration teams to ensure cohesive system design and implementation.

Responsible Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Scrum Team on technical content.

Develop and execute strategies to improve quality standards like MISRA.

Translate product and feature strategy into User Stories, assisting scrum team with story definition, estimation and sequencing for Program Increment Planning events.

Work day-to-day with Scrum team clarifying requirements, consistently communicating and gaining alignment around Feature or Product Strategy.

Provide clearly defined acceptance criteria to enable Behavior Driven (BDD) and Test-Driven (TDD) Development.

Provide guidance for System Demonstration Strategy during Story creation (Unit test, Integration, and system level test strategy).

Verify stories are testable and can be used to generate testing objectives.

Provide technical guidance and coaching to Scrum Team members.

Serve as the subject matter expert on all features/solutions that scrum delivers with Driver modes and Driver restriction and assistance modes.

Refine, maintain and prioritize the Scrum Team’s backlog and Work closely with Scrum team to ascertain team capacity. Accept each story and participate in team demons and retrospectives to validate quality.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

8+ years of experience in software development experience with automotive engineering.

Strong understanding of Embedded C software development principles and practices.

Proven track record of leading system architecture design and resource allocation for complex embedded platforms.

Working experience migrating to new vehicle architectures, including development of APIs, Interfaces, Service oriented architecture, enabling interaction between various vehicle systems and ECUs in vehicle and simulated environments.

At least 5 years of experience in SAFe agile methodologies in Scrum Manager/Product owner or Scrum Lead role.

Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain accuracy in complex technical tasks.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

10+ years of experience in software development experience with automotive engineering.

Hands on Automotive software development experience with an OEM.

Familiarity with data logging and analysis tools (e.g., CANalyzer, CANoe).

Understanding of automotive functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262).

Experience with scripting languages such as Python for data analysis or automation.
