Onsite - This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Pontiac, MI on a full-time basis.
The Role:
As a Tool & Die Shift Leader, you will be responsible for the supervision of salaried employees responsible for operations, maintenance and repair of plant equipment across three shifts. Work requires the ability to make decisions based on established procedures. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE).
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the maintenance and repair of plant equipment and facilities aligned with standard GM maintenance systems
- Conduct appropriate checks and tests and communicate evaluation of results
- Responsible for preventative maintenance and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions, recommends solutions to problems, and meets schedule and quality requirements
- Oversees a small to medium group of salaried maintenance Group Leaders
- Comply with the terms of local and national labor agreements
- Implements divisional and corporate policies
- Implements safety and good housekeeping practices
- Frequent contact and collaboration with others outside of the work group
- Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material and equipment
- Participates in the selection of new employees
- Train, develop and evaluate employees
- Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
- Lead technical guidance for complex and unusual plant operations or projects
- Assists in the development of budgets and forecasts within assigned area
- Obtain a deep knowledge and ability to implement Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles
- Manage workload across all three shifts of the operation.
- Be available to take calls and work all three shift and weekends when needed to support die room activities.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) :
- 3+ years of Tool and Die experience or die program support
- 3+ years of Manufacturing experience
- Leadership experience
- Ability to work / rotate through all 3 shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd)
- Ability to work over-time, weekends, holidays, etc. as needed
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- 5+ years of Tool and Die experience or die program support
- 5+ years of stamping
- Bachelor’s degree or Journeyman’s card
