Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) Manager – Americas Region
Job Summary
The EHSS Manager – Americas Region is responsible for leading the implementation and continuous improvement of HP’s Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability programs across North and South America. This role ensures compliance with all applicable local, regional, and global regulations and HP policies, while driving strategic initiatives that promote sustainability, operational excellence, and employee health and safety.
The EHSS Manager leads a regional team of professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities. Additionally, this role provides critical support to the Remediation Specialist in managing soil and groundwater remediation projects and environmental liabilities. In the absence of the Remediation Specialist, the EHSS Manager assumes responsibility for all remediation activities to ensure continuity and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
EHSS Program Leadership: Implement and continuously improve HP’s EHSS programs across the Americas. Develop regional strategies aligned with global initiatives and local requirements. Provide regular performance reports and recommend goals and improvement initiatives.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all applicable EHSS regulations and HP policies. Monitor regulatory changes and update programs accordingly.
Team Leadership: Mentor and lead the regional EHSS team, fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
Risk Assessment & Audits: Oversee risk assessments, audits, and inspections. Recommend and track corrective actions to mitigate risks.
Training & Communication: Develop and deliver EHSS training programs. Communicate policies and best practices effectively across all levels.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with site leaders, business units, and global EHSS teams to align strategies and share best practices.
Environmental Remediation & Strategy: Manage remediation efforts, develop risk-based plans, and maintain environmental liability reserves.
External Reporting & Compliance: Provide environmental data for reporting and support regulatory audits.
Due Diligence: Lead EHSS due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and real estate transactions.
Hazardous Waste Management: Develop and enforce hazardous waste policies and ensure vendor compliance.
Sustainability Initiatives: Drive programs supporting HP’s sustainability goals, including waste reduction and energy efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
Experience: Minimum 7 years in EHSS roles, preferably in a multinational or manufacturing environment.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of EHSS regulations in the Americas and global standards.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams and influence across all organizational levels.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Travel: Ability to travel regionally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering, or related field.
Experience negotiating with regulatory agencies and managing compliance issues.
Professional certifications (CSP, CIH, etc.).
Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 frameworks.
Awareness of global EHSS trends and emerging regulations.
The pay range for this role is $105,050 to $161,800 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
