What You'll Be Doing
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments of finished goods by truck, rail and barge throughout BC and WA. Works with sales and distribution to coordinate shipments within region as required.
- Coordinate inbound shipments to Delta plant of raw materials by rail, truck or barge with suppliers, carriers and plant.
- Maintain effective external communication with various carriers and industry as well as internal communication with Sales Administration, Production, Terminals, and Accounts Payable/Receivable departments.
- Expedite rail shipments and measure key performance indicators. Monitor and forecast inventory levels at terminals.
- Investigate and resolve various freight and optional service charges including demurrage, storage, switching and diversion fees.
- Work with inside and outside sales representatives to ensure service to customers is in line with Heidelberg Materials’ standards. Set up and measure key performance indicators.
- Assist with the negotiation of transportation contracts.
- Review, code and submit invoices within Basware to Accounts Payable.
- Responsible for maintaining CTPAT Security Profile.
- Prepare customs documentation for international shipments. Create requisitions for material and items as required.
Preferred Experience And Skills
- Post-secondary education in the areas of supply chain management or business, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Three to five years logistics experience specifically in the rail and/or freight industry.
- Progression towards Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation or Professional Logistician Designation is an asset.
- Knowledge of transportation, loading, and remote loading software.
- SAP and MS Office proficiency.
- Communication, customer relations, problem solving and organizational skills.

Work Environment
This role operates in a dynamic office and dispatch environment with frequent communication across operations, sales, and transportation teams. The position may involve periods of high activity during peak seasons and requires coordination with on‑site and remote personnel.
