The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing end-to-end litigation support projects, with a primary focus on managing large document review teams (remote) and managing onsite staff as needed. The Project Manager has responsibilities for coordinating the efforts of Project Supervisors, Team Leads and other staff. The team will be a mix of remote staff and on-site staff. The Project Manager will be a hybrid position requiring periodic in office presence to meet with staff and clients, as well as on-demand, onsite support at the customer’s request. The split between on-site and remote work is determined based on case needs and could fluctuate based on customer requirements.
In an average day, the Project Manager could be compiling statistics and metrics for Amentum/client, as well as running searches in Relativity and consulting with attorneys. The Project Manager is expected to handle about 8-10 hours a month of Amentum administrative tasks such as timesheet review/approval, employee relations, meetings, upkeep of statistics for reporting, weekly and monthly reporting to client, and invoicing, for example.
• May be required to work out of a variety of locations (government-funded Document Center, a Contractor-provided facility or remotely)
• Acts as the Government's primary point of contact for all support for the case. The Project Manager will have frequent contact with the COR, Government Case Managers, trial attorneys, client agency staff, and sometimes even opposing counsel.
• Responsible for planning and managing all support for the case, including monitoring workflow, progress reporting, identifying and assigning staff, budget development and tracking, coordinating technical/data processing support, and obtaining other required resources.
• Project Managers will generally be responsible for more than one active case at a time; a caseload of six to ten "moderately active, moderately sized" cases will be typical, with several of the cases possibly in the discovery and/or document review stage, one case in trial, several in the deposition preparation/witness binder stage, etc.
• Performs an active quality assurance role to ensure high quality work delivered on time.
• Ensures that proper security is maintained overall project materials, in accordance with Department security procedures.
• Coordinates with other Contractor components to deliver project support. When operating out of a Document Center, the Project Manager's work may be subject to coordination or direction by the Lead Project Manager.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to manage multiple DOJ customer requests, tasks, and projects (investigations/reviews).
- Ability to supervise and mentor project managers, project supervisors, team leads, law clerks, paralegals etc..
- Ability to interface with the customers senior managers, CORs and the Automated Litigation Support (ALS) lab staff.
- Ability to generate LAWs requests as needed in support of the customer’s mission.
- Ability to manage Amentum Corporate priorities,
- Ability to manage employee relations including coaching, counseling, interviewing, hiring, and terminations. Coordinate with cross function groups to facilitate onboarding of candidates.
- Ability to maintain and manage project financials; to include expenditures and forecasting.
- Ability to manage and support multiple subcontractors (e.g. implementation of subcontracting agreements to include non-disclosure agreements, delivery orders, and modification of delivery orders).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- At least four years of progressively more responsible supervisory and management experience on major litigation support projects, including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys.
- Demonstrated ability to manage numerous complex and time-critical litigation support activities simultaneously, including technical/data processing and eDiscovery support activities.
- Requires expert knowledge of litigation support; outstanding writing skills; excellent oral communication skills; and excellent management skills.
- Must be able to anticipate litigation support needs and develop and execute detailed plans for addressing those needs.
- Knowledgeable of the Government’s data processing environment, including: Automation networks; PC-based databases and other applications; Internet and server-based databases, and other applications (e.g., Relativity, Nuix, EnCase, IPro, Trial Director and other comparable applications)
- Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources required. Should be an expert user of the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheet, imaging, and hardware and document review platforms.
- Undergraduate degree required. Law degree, advanced technical certification, or other pertinent graduate degree preferred. Substantial significant experience may in some cases be substituted for degree requirement.
