Chief Engineer - JLL - Union

What this job involves:

Responsible for the operational management and effective daily leadership and administration of the engineering team with the objectives of safely, efficiently, and effectively operating machinery and systems in a cost-effective manner. The Chief Engineer must ensure the highest level of professionalism, while meeting the client’s needs, and a commitment to achieving the goal of 100% uptime throughout the engineering team. Responsible for protecting and improving the value of the client’s assets and ensuring that building engineering systems continue to perform their intended function.

This position operates under the Local 399 collective bargaining agreement.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Oversee maintenance and operation of all building systems including fire/life safety, HVAC, electrical, generators, UPS, cabling, lighting controls, critical environments, and A/V services using staff and vendors as needed.
Supervise engineering and maintenance teams including hiring, training, development, and implementing KPIs and performance measurement plans.
Develop and execute comprehensive maintenance programs incorporating preventive, predictive, and reactive procedures while ensuring regulatory compliance and safety hazard remediation.
Assist in capital planning for infrastructure upgrades, equipment replacements, and building modifications while managing major project execution from planning through closeout.
Maintain all infrastructure documentation including building drawings, single lines, compliance records, engineering logs, and regulatory documentation required by federal, state, and local laws.
Oversee contractor activities, provide advance training and emergency procedures, maintain building rounds and readings records, and ensure compliance with critical building functions

Required Qualifications:

Possess at least 5 years of recent (within the past 7 years) experience in facilities management in a supervisory capacity for buildings of the approximate size and characteristics of the buildings to be covered by this contract.
Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent.
Certification as a Universal Technician for CFC’s (or within 90 days of employment).
Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills.
Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service.

Location: Chicago, IL

Work Shift: 1st shift, Monday - Friday

Salary/ Comp: $54.51 hourly

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Estimated compensation for this position:

5,451.00 – 54.51 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
