Job Summary and Qualifications
As the Patient Safety Coordinator you will identify quality of care, patient safety, medication safety, regulatory, and risk management issues and concerns by applying applicable knowledge and principles of clinical care, standards of care, patient safety, quality improvement, and risk management. You will have a quality impact on our patients’ lives and the opportunity to truly make a difference. In this role:
- You will serve as coordinator, liaison and educator for patients and family concerns guided by the CMS grievance process.
You will focus on Clinical Safety Improvement Program and Risk Reduction Program deliverables – assist Risk Manager and coordinate interdisciplinary team to address Evidence Based Care Management case analysis for hospital acquired conditions and hospital acquired infections, assist and manage required deliverables.
You will hold information in confidence and protect the confidentiality of complainants and employees.
- You will work with facility leaders and managers to ensure thorough, credible and timely grievance and complaint management.
- You will assist with disclosure of reviews and/or events to patients and/or families in accordance with organizational policy and regulations.
- You will be responsible for event management and the event management system; includes tracking, assessing and evaluating events for risks and opportunities for improvement.
- You will participate in resolution of grievances by patients, families, or their representatives, related accidents, injuries, treatment and other events, which may result in claims or medical malpractice/negligence.
- You will manage daily Midas patient event reports – clinically assess and analyze patient safety event reports; including close calls and unsafe conditions, initial event investigation, follow-up with Directors and Risk Manager, patient safety audits, patient safety communications, assist with Serious Event Analysis, and quality of care concerns.
- You will assist Risk Manager to identify and implement measures to improve patient safety, quality of care, decrease risk, able to identify Patient Safety Work Products – maintain security and confidentiality measures; collect, disseminate, and analyze Patient Safety Work Product, assist in developing recommendations, protocols; utilizing best practices.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare related field required - Master’s Degree preferred.
- Healthcare experience in patient safety, risk, and/or quality preferred.
- Two or more years of RN experience required - experience should be recent and within a clinical setting such as a Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center, etc.
- Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS) preferred
- Active Utah RN Licensure
