About the Role
We are seeking a Sustainability Lead to provide expert guidance, develop robust delivery plans, and ensure compliance with regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will identify and implement data-driven solutions to help clients meet targets in energy, carbon, waste, circular economy, water, heritage, community engagement, nature, and supply chain sustainability. The Sustainability Lead will use data, procedures, and best practice to drive improvement and embed sustainability across the EI portfolio.
Role Responsibilities:
Use data analytics to identify sustainability improvement opportunities and best practices.
Undertake Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions accounting and reporting in accordance with GHG Protocol.
Model net-zero pathways and conduct scenario analysis.
Support risk management for sustainability-related risks and opportunities.
Lead sustainability audits of client facilities and estates.
Design and review compliance dashboards and building performance analytics.
Benchmark estate sustainability performance against industry standards.
Develop ROI business cases for energy and resource efficiency initiatives.
Drive delivery of energy efficiency projects and highlight efficiency opportunities across energy, waste, and water.
Design and review reporting tools for waste, water, transport, ESG, and supply chain transparency.
Advise clients on environmental legislation, standards, and sustainability training.
Collaborate with the EI management team on individual projects as required.
Work collaboratively across EI and with clients to deliver efficiency savings and reduce environmental impact.
Model collaborative and influential working styles, negotiating for optimal outcomes and embedding best practices.
Professional Experience Required
Extensive experience in estate/facilities/real estate sustainability, energy management, or environmental operations.
Proven track record in delivering multi-site energy or carbon reduction programs and data-driven performance management.
Experience with environmental/energy standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 50001) and operational audits.
Strong business case development skills, including CAPEX/OPEX planning.
Experience with UK regulations (e.g., SECR, ESOS, climate-related financial risk) and asset ratings (e.g.,BREEAM, LEED, EPCs, DECs).
Familiarity with building services (HVAC, BMS, lighting), sub-metering, and analytics platforms.
Experience with climate risk assessment and biodiversity net gain.
Technical Skills Required
Sustainability strategy and delivery across estates and facilities.
Data analysis and performance benchmarking.
Regulatory compliance (ESOS, SECR, CFD, EPCs, DECs).
Environmental and energy standards (ISO 14001, ISO 50001).
Building services and analytics platforms.

Qualifications Required
Essential
Degree in engineering, environmental science/management, sustainability, facilities management, or related discipline.
Experience with environmental/energy standards (ISO 14001, ISO 50001), operational audits, and regulatory compliance (SECR, ESOS, CFD, EPCs, DECs).
Desirable:
Chartership or professional accreditation (e.g., CEng, CEnv, MISEP).
Knowledge of building services, analytics platforms, climate risk assessment, and biodiversity net gain.
This is a hybrid role with flexible working practices. The successful candidate will be required to routinely attend our Leatherhead HQ and Swindon National Service Hub, also client sites across the UK when required.
