Job Purpose
The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for leading site‑based engineering and construction activities for onshore oil and gas projects, ensuring safe, compliant, and high‑quality execution. The role requires close coordination with multidisciplinary teams to manage technical and execution issues and to support project delivery from engineering through construction, commissioning, and handover. The position will also act as the primary technical and coordination interface with the Company’s Abu Dhabi office.
Job Responsibilities
- Project Execution & Site Leadership: Lead and oversee on‑site engineering activities, including planning, scheduling, and execution, ensuring works are delivered in line with approved scope, budget, schedule, and Company requirements.
- Client interface and communication: Serve as the primary technical and coordination interface with the Client, leading client meetings, site inspections, and technical discussions. Proactively manage and respond to client queries, instructions, and comments, ensuring clear, timely, and accurate communication and alignment with approved scope, technical specifications, and overall project objectives
- Engineering & Technical Oversight: Provide technical review and guidance on engineering deliverables, construction drawings, work packs, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, and industry best practices.
- Coordination & Interface Management: Act as the primary coordination focal point between construction, engineering, procurement, HSE, and project management teams, including effective interfacing with international engineers and contractors.
- Risk Identification & Resolution: Identify potential technical and execution risks at site level; propose practical mitigation measures and resolve emerging construction or engineering issues promptly to avoid delays.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance: Ensure all site activities comply with Company standards, QA/QC requirements, HSE regulations, and relevant Iraqi laws and environmental requirements.
- Contractor & Stakeholder Management: Liaise with contractors, vendors, local authorities, and Company representatives to ensure smooth execution and effective resolution of technical or site‑related issues.
- Team Supervision & Mentorship: Supervise and mentor junior engineers, technicians, and site staff; promote a strong safety culture, knowledge transfer, and continuous improvement among local teams.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and review technical reports, progress updates, method statements, and handover documentation; ensure accurate and timely reporting to Company management.
- Continuous Improvement: Support lessons‑learned initiatives and contribute to improving engineering practices, site coordination, and execution efficiency.
Technical Skills
- Strong experience in onshore oil and gas project execution, particularly in site‑based engineering and construction support roles.
- Working knowledge of engineering and project tools such as AutoCAD, SAP, PDMS, or equivalent systems used for mechanical, civil, or project management activities.
- Good understanding of international engineering standards, codes, and best practices relevant to oil and gas facilities.
- Hands‑on experience with construction sequencing, mechanical completion, commissioning support, and handover activities.
- Familiarity with local Iraqi regulations, site permit systems, and coordination with local stakeholders is an advantage.

Qualifications
- Masters or Bachelor’s in Engineering or a related discipline; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., PMP, PE) are advantageous.
- Minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience in onshore oil and gas projects, emphasizing and project execution.
- Proven track record of managing large, complex projects with a focus on safety and quality.
Work Environment
