The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for payroll tax and compliance activities, including monitoring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. In addition, this role will research laws and regulations regarding payroll taxes and withholding procedures, analyze and verify discrepancies. This role requires a strong understanding of multi-state tax laws, local regulations, and wage and hour laws and regulations. Monitor, manage, reconcile payroll taxes at the employer and employee level. Includes reconciliation to the general ledger as well as reporting, preparation, and ensuring compliance.
Duties
- Reconcile payroll tax reporting after each pay run to ensure accurate tax filing by ADP
- Conduct quarterly tax audits for multiple entities and reconcile 941s to payroll reports
- Reconcile payroll taxes to the general ledger and coordinate with Accounting on discrepancies.
- Reconcile cash activity to Payroll and ADP tax services.
- Research and resolve payroll tax variances on a pay period basis.
- Audit new hire state headcount reporting
- Submit Equifax quarterly unemployment contribution report for year end review and rate verification.
- Monitor and submit garnishments to ADP
- Respond to tax notices received electronically or by mail
- Maintain state tax account logins and submit updates online as needed.
- Research and reconciliation of payroll taxes from prior periods. Files amended returns as needed to correct state income and unemployment taxes.
- Establish new state accounts in ADP Smart Compliance
- Assist with year end W-2 reconciliation
- Train to be back up for payroll processing
- Ensure payroll tax/wage and hour compliance with local, state and federal regulations
- Research federal, state and local laws to support changing legislation regarding federal/state minimum wages, wage garnishments, earnings & tax compliance.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years' experience with payroll, payroll tax filings and compliance issues in a multi-employer operation preferred.
- Strong accounting skills, detail oriented, proficient in excel.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and in a constructive manner.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
The base annual salary range is listed below. This role is eligible for additional incentives, including an annual bonus.
Base Salary Range
$55,000—$60,000 USD
