We are seeking a Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineer for the Mechanical Installation Design team. Our group delivers high quality Aircraft designs, updates technical data packages, and supports production to meet demanding customer requirements.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Design Engineer you will be responsible for driving closure on both mechanical installation, cable routing/installation design, data package updates and completing program related tasks for rotary aircraft programs. You’ll work closely with Stress Analysis, Lab Environments, Materials & Processes, Production, and Senior Systems/Mechanical Engineers, initially under their guidance and quickly moving toward independent ownership. The role is based in Owego, NY.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Update and release engineering drawings, models, and specifications
• Maintain and improve the NHP & Labs Technical Data Package (TDP) to support production and lab build activities
• Collaborate with cross functional teams (Lab Design & Build, Lab Project Engineer's, Internal and External Customer's) to resolve design issues and ensure manufacturability
• Conduct design reviews, generate clear briefing materials, and communicate status to senior engineer's
• Ensure compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations
• Share best practices to elevate team performance

Basic Qualifications:• Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
• Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that may require special access.
Desired Skills:• Proficiency in Creo/Zuken E3 for part and assembly design, and Windchill for managing engineering data and documentation
• Familiarity with the transition from development to production, including the resolution of design issues and optimization for production
• Experience in mechanical design (preferably production phase) in aerospace or a similar industry
• Engineering mathematics, manufacturing practices as well as the ability to interpret equipment specifications and electrical schematics
• Experience with AutoCAD, Creo, CATIA V5/V6/3DX and Zuken E3
• Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills
• Capable of managing complex tasks and drive them to successful outcomes
• Geometric Dimension and Tolerance experience
• Experience in structural analysis
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint)

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $57,500 - $101,430. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
