Aircraft Mechanic II – Edwards
Purpose and Scope:
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform launch, recovery, scheduled and unscheduled inspections/maintenance.
- Preflight/thru flight/BPO inspections, ground handling, minor maintenance, and servicing.
- Perform routine troubleshooting, installation, repair and maintenance of all systems and components on the aircraft at the organizational level of maintenance.
- Requires aircraft services. Performs end-of-runway, post-flight, preflight, thru-flight, and phase inspections.
- Troubleshoots and maintains aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment. Removes and installs aircraft components.
- Performs inspections, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the company aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer and company maintenance manuals and procedures.
- Services, operates, and maintains ground support equipment and performs interior and exterior cleaning of aircraft and work areas.
- Must precisely complete all maintenance documentation and perform all other position-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Six (6) years directly related to aircraft maintenance experience on KC-46 aircraft. Experience must include complying with all applicable aircraft servicing procedures, aircraft maintenance manuals and parts catalogs, and/or
- FAA Airframe, Powerplant, or Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
- Must read, interpret and use manufacturers and aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, wiring/schematic diagrams, data tables and other specifications to determine feasibility and method to repair or replace malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Must have a current state issued driver’s license.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. NOTE: U.S. citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work site.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
- Must possess the ability to carry and lift overhead up to 50 pounds.
- Duties include walking, climbing, standing, stooping, stretching, and squatting for purposes of moving equipment, boarding and de-boarding the aircraft, performing maintenance using ladders, and performing maintenance atop and below aircraft.
- Work is primarily performed outside in a high-level noise environment.
- Performing maintenance in low-light areas, operating support equipment after daylight hours. Work is occasionally performed in inclement weather.
