Job Overview
As a Supply Chain Intern on the Strategic Sourcing team, you will be responsible for a range of activities supporting the North America strategic sourcing and procurement teams. This group works closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive regional and global supply chain standards for Komatsu.
This position is based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee’s Harbor District. The target start date is Summer 2026, with the opportunity to continue part-time through theFall 2026 semester. We offer full-time hours during the summer and flexible scheduling during the academic year.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Prepares supplier quote packages by gathering engineering drawings and specifications from various systems and distributes with direction from Category Managers.
- Owner of procurement master data. Examples include - sets up suppliers in SAP, creating info records, creating and maintaining price databases. Supports the maintenance and control of material costs. Performs total landed cost analysis.
- Follow-up and work directly with suppliers on aging quotes
- Assist with identification, evaluation, and support for the development of sources of supply and commodity plans for OE (Original Equipment) and Aftermarket in accordance with SLQCD (safety, law, quality, delivery, and cost) principals as assigned
- Drives, supports, and provides reporting and analytics for continuous improvement and supplier development and management in coordination with the Category Managers and New Product Development – Cost Optimization Project Managers to leverage spend and cost reductions.
- Prepares engineering drawings and quoting packages. Performs analysis on RFQs. Develops bid analysis summaries.
- Extracts estimated annual usage and previous purchase price for cost impact analysis.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor's level degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, IT, General Business or equivalent
- Hold a rising Sophomore, Junior or Senior level in good academic standing
- Ability to work independently as well a part of a team towards a goal
- Excellent organization and personal time management skills; able to handle multiple tasks
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Possess effective problem solving and critical thinking skills, able to be creative and resourceful when needed
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work experience in warehouse/distribution, customer service, or formal internship
- Ability to read basics from an engineering print (will train)
- ISM /APICS Certification a plus but not required
- Creative, high energy, and self-motivated
- Self-confidence and professionalism to interact with internal employees and external suppliers at all levels of the organization, both vertically and horizontally
