Not RequiredWe're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to be a seasoned individual contributor responsible for the development and integration of Navigation (NAV) software modules that interface with a Collins Flight Management System (FMS) for commercial transport aircraft. The role involves working independently on moderately complex problems and supporting certification and verification activities consistent with DAL B objectives.
This is an onsite position based in Melbourne, Florida.
What you will do:
-
Design, implement, integrate, and maintain NAV software modules that provide navigation data to the Collins FMS.

Develop software in ADA, C++, C, and Python following safety-critical development standards.
-
Analyze system and software requirements, including NAV-to-FMS ICDs.
-
Participate in flight-test operations, lab testing, and simulation runs to evaluate system performance under real-world and mission-critical conditions
-
Implement navigation algorithms, data handling, and integrity monitoring logic.

Implement and support AI-assisted onboard features such as intelligent sensor fusion, anomaly detection, and autonomous control logic

Support requirements traceability in Jama or DOORS.

Conduct unit and integration testing and debugging.
-
Support verification and validation activities per DO-178C.

Participate in peer reviews, design reviews, and code inspections.

Collaborate with systems, verification, and certification teams.
Qualifications you must have:
-
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

Embedded or real-time avionics software experience.
-
Proficiency in C++ and Python are required.
-
Experience across multiple phases of the software lifecycle.

Familiarity with Git, Jira, Confluence, Jama, SVN and CI/CD tools.
Qualifications we prefer:

DO-178B/C experience (DAL B preferred).

Knowledge of avionics navigation and FMS-integrated systems.

Experience with ICD-driven development.

Familiarity with ARINC 429 or ARINC 664.

Strong communication skills.

Experience with ADA and C.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
