Summary:
Material Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and expediting flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between sections or departments, according to production and shipping schedules or department priorities, and compiles and maintain records. Review production schedules and related information and confer with shipping and plant leadership to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and to track material.
The primary responsibility of the Material Coordinator is to data mine, verify, and escalate to ensure the plant and shipping has the necessary inventory levels to support production plans to meet safety stock quantities and ultimately customer demand.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Run critical shortage reports and investigate material shortages for all orders.
- Partner and collaborate with all departments, mainly manufacturing and purchasing, to ensure all materials are being obtained in a timely manner, to guarantee on time shipment for customers.
- Drive all material shortages and outages to zero for current and future orders.
- Identify the required material needed on hand in the supermarket and ensure materials are transferred to support production.
- Lead weekly material meetings, with the designated purchasing and manufacturing liaison, to review and update all open action items for all orders needing material.
- Escalate all shippable material shortages, (negative inventory), continuously as they occur.
- Coordinate the movement of material to ensure they are positioned into the designated ship point.
- Assist in continuous improvement process and support process improvements.
- Monitor/manage inventory levels utilizing ERP, (Oracle), and MES, (Synchronos), in conjunction with m system and visual Min/Max alert to ensure there are no interruptions to production activities.
- Monitor all dashboards and review of the PFEP file to review historical data to predict the required action to support the need for materials.
- Effectively communicate and work with internal customers regarding material issues.
- Support receiving, put away, and production activities to ensure on-time delivery.
- Analyze and investigate material variances to identify root cause and report them to the appropriate parties.
- Facilitate inventory counts or other tasks as requested by the customer.
- Identify and suggest opportunities for improvement within the department to help drive continuous improvement of materials on hand.
- Assist in tracking the delivery of critical materials.
- Follow and assist with adherence and management of plant safety protocols.
- Collaborate with other Material Coordinators to establish best practices and cross train to create coverage plans.
- All other duties as assigned.
