The Client Development Consultant (CDC) plays a vital role in supporting identification, development, resourcing and reporting for critical client business opportunities but does not have primary responsibility for closing sales.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
As a member of the Growth Engagement & Operations (GEO) team, the CDC will have responsibility for using technology and internal sales engagement processes to
- Partner with sales executives to identify and validate client and prospect business requirements for high-complexity pipeline opportunities
- Drive disciplined sales activities using a structured engagement methodology
- Apply expert knowledge of Salesforce to execute, track and report metrics on client needs, actions, and outcomes
- Coordinate and align internal matrixed resources for support to opportunities in Optum Financial's sales pipeline
- Translating complex client needs into actionable client business capture plans that accelerate deal progression
- Champion and train stakeholders on disciplined sales engagement practices, reinforcing strong CRM hygiene and strategic business judgment in support of GEO
- Develop multi-level relationships and maintain communication with stakeholders
Primary Responsibilities:
- Works closely with sales, product, solution architecture, pricing, proposal and marketing teams to translate client development strategies into specific selling activities
- Ensures appropriate resources are assigned to address all client requirements
- Develops and presents client business capture plans and reports
- Identifies and assigns deal-specific actions and works closely with functional departments (e.g., Proposal Development, Contracts, Pricing, Finance, etc.) to assure an integrated approach
- Supports sales executives, providing as-needed training on CRM tools for recording and tracking deal development in Salesforce
- Supports facilitation of deal reviews, often with senior executive audience
- Aligns and interacts closely with functional area stakeholders
- Supports sales executives with activities from bid decision to contract award
- Motivates and energizes internal and external team members to produce a winning opportunity
- Leads and coordinates sales activities
- Ensures compliance with engagement and operational disciplines

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of sales enablement, business development pursuit or proposal development, experience leadership skills are key requirements
- 5+ years of CRM, technology and process automation and/or customer support with focus technical insights
- Experience analyzing and reporting resource requirements and gaining executive and stakeholder buy-in for strategic pursuits
- Deep knowledge of the client buying lifecycle, proposal and client capture processes
- Solid understanding of converting business strategies into client development actions that are competitive and compelling for the customer
- Proven exceptional motivational, verbal, and personal presentation skills with the ability to persuasively present and represent business capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with senior levels of internal and external organizations
- Proven exemplary technical and data management skills
- Proven keen meeting facilitation, organization, and presentation abilities
- Proven ability to enhance the business development and client engagement processes
- Proven ability to proactively suggest improvements to increase win probability of opportunities
- Proven expert in Salesforce
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Shipley Associates or APMP membership or knowledge a bonus
- Proven ability to identify and assemble information and resources for customer analysis, competitive analysis, and client capture into winning proposals

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
