Program Summary

Job Summary
To serve as a Fire Inspector reporting to the Assistant Chief of Prevention. Develops and conducts extensive fire protection and prevention education and training programs. Performs regular and periodic fire protection inspections. Conducts an information program to elicit support and involvement in fire prevention, detection, and suppression. Develops and maintains a variety of documentation. Inspects, assesses, and corrects deficiencies on a variety of fire protection systems, many of which are complex or designed for a specific operation or hazardous condition.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Comply with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
- Assists in development of fiscal budget for and provides supply/equipment acquisition support for routine FES related supplies, specialized equipment, services and equipment/supplies or services requiring special handling.
- Employee must participate in a mandatory physical fitness program.
- Employee is required to use all safety equipment and clothing provided by management.
- May be required to participate in on-scene firefighting duties during emergencies, low-manning periods, or exercises.
- This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle.
- Oversee fire watch programs and burning, welding permits inspections and issuance.
- Conduct training to personnel and other civic groups in the areas of fire detection, prevention, and suppression.
- Issue fire violation and inspection reports; follow-up to verify corrective actions are closed out.
- Will perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Must maintain current CPR & Emergency Medical Responder certification.
- The work is performed in various settings, such as office buildings, warehouses, industrial buildings, or construction sites. In some areas, the employee may be required to wear protective clothing, such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields. The work may involve moderate risks requiring the exercise of safety precautions when working around fuel transfer operations, construction sites, hospitals, airfields, etc.
- Heavy physical effort is required in the frequent handling of objects such as support equipment weighing 50 lbs. or more; may be required to lift/carry personnel such as an adult male (weighing 200 lbs.) in emergency situations. Duties require full use of both arms, both legs and fingers to bend, turn, pull, crawl, kneel, and climb for such tasks as use of aerial ladders, firefighting equipment controls, arranging/connecting hoses, rappelling, operation of fire truck and all types of rescue operations, etc. Perform work under extremely adverse conditions, including working in conditions immediately dangerous to life and health which generates temperature extremes and dirty environments.
Basic Qualifications
- Turkish Citizenship
- Capable to speak, read, write, and understand English language “Minimum Level III”
- High School Diploma
- Have a current driver’s license (minimum “B” Class)
- Must have the following DOD, Pro-Board, or ISAC certifications in accordance with DoDI 6055.06-M:
- Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Awareness
- Fire Inspector I
- Public Fire and Life Safety Educator
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience working in fire protection organization
- Fire Inspector-II certification.
All positions require the applicant to obtain and pass a medical physical that is certified by a doctor, to include colorblindness test, depth perception, and contrast.
All positions require a current and favorable Turkish Security background check.
All male candidates must have completed their military service.
