Timekeeper — Role & Responsibilities (Fiserv)
Role Purpose
The Timekeeper role at Fiserv is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant tracking of employee work time, attendance, and pay‑related data. This role supports payroll accuracy, labor cost control, compliance with labor laws, and operational reporting.
Timekeepers act as a control point between employees, supervisors, payroll, and HR.
Core Responsibilities
1. Time & Attendance Management
Review, validate, and approve employee time entries in Fiserv’s timekeeping system (e.g., Kronos/UKG or equivalent).
Monitor:
Clock‑in/clock‑out accuracy
Missed punches
Meal and break compliance
Shift differentials and premium pay rules
Ensure time is recorded according to Fiserv policies and union contracts (if applicable).
2. Payroll Accuracy Support
Ensure all time data is accurate and complete before payroll cutoff.
Correct time entry errors in coordination with supervisors and employees.
Validate:
Regular hours
Overtime (OT)
Holiday pay
PTO, sick, or special leave codes
Prevent payroll errors that could result in overpayment, underpayment, or audit findings.
3. Overtime & Labor Control
Track and report overtime usage.
Ensure OT hours:
Are properly approved
Align with Fiserv OT policies and site‑level controls
Support Operations and Leadership with:
OT trend visibility
Cost awareness
Weekly labor utilization summaries
4. Compliance & Policy Adherence
Enforce compliance with:
FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act)
State labor laws
Fiserv timekeeping and attendance policies
Ensure edits and adjustments include required documentation and approvals.
Maintain audit‑ready timekeeping records.
5. Employee & Supervisor Support
Serve as the first point of contact for:
Timecard questions
Pay discrepancies
Attendance clarifications
Coach employees and supervisors on:
Proper time entry procedures
Cutoff timelines
Policy requirements
6. Reporting & Documentation
Generate and distribute reports related to:
Attendance trends
Overtime usage
Missed punches
PTO balances (as applicable)
Maintain documentation for:
Time edits
Pay adjustments
Compliance reviews or investigations
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong attention to detail
High integrity and confidentiality
Working knowledge of payroll and labor rules
Ability to partner with Operations, HR, and Payroll
Time management and deadline discipline
Proficiency in timekeeping systems and basic Excel reporting
Role Boundaries (Important)
Timekeepers do not independently approve policy exceptions. They:
Enforce rules
Validate accuracy
Escalate concerns
Final policy decisions remain with Operations Leadership, HR, or Payroll, depending on the issue.
