Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Dispatcher to coordinate transportation and logistics operations within our supply chain network. This role involves managing freight movements, utilizing advanced transportation management systems, and ensuring efficient dispatching of vehicles and shipments. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, analysis abilities, and experience with various logistics software to optimize fleet utilization and delivery schedules. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment supporting shipping, receiving, and fleet management functions.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule freight shipments using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
- Utilize GIS and GPS technologies to monitor vehicle locations and optimize routing plans.
- Manage dispatch operations for fleet vehicles, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries while maintaining safety standards.
- Maintain accurate data entry related to shipments, vehicle logs, and delivery statuses using AS400 and other data management platforms.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, warehouse staff, and clients via multi-line phone systems while demonstrating professional phone etiquette.
- Oversee shipping & receiving activities, including scheduling pickups, coordinating freight movements, and tracking shipments through 3PL providers.
- Analyze logistics data to identify inefficiencies or delays, providing solutions for continuous improvement in transportation planning.
- Support freight management by overseeing fleet management tasks such as maintenance scheduling and compliance documentation.
- Assist in the implementation of transportation planning strategies aligned with supply chain objectives.
Experience
- Proven experience in dispatching within a logistics or transportation environment.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms like SyteLine.
- Strong understanding of GIS, GPS technology, and transportation planning principles.
- Experience working with freight operations, shipping & receiving processes, and fleet management.
- Excellent communication skills with proficiency in phone etiquette and multi-line phone systems.
- Demonstrated analysis skills for evaluating logistics performance metrics.
- Ability to perform data entry accurately using systems like AS400 or equivalent ERP platforms.
- Knowledge of 3PL operations, shipping regulations, and supply chain fundamentals is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $1,000.00 - $1,200.00 per week
