How will this role impact First Command?
This role sits within the Graphic Design function of Marketing and is responsible for producing high-quality, internal-facing creative that adheres to established brand standards. The position plays a key role in protecting timelines and quality for externally focused work, while ensuring internal partners receive timely, thoughtful, and well-considered design support.
You will collaborate closely with fellow designers, internal marketing coordinators, and the Internal Communications team to deliver best-in-class creative across a wide range of internal channels. These include fact sheets, newsletters, informational collateral, presentation design, signage, photography, and select advisor training and internal messaging materials.
This role requires a strong visual problem solver who enjoys bringing clarity and simplicity to complex information. Comfortable working from concept through final production, understands the importance of brand standards, and thrives in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.
What will the employee do in this role?
Responsibilities
- Support all stages of the creative process, from concept development through final delivery, including layout design,
- revisions, asset management, and approvals.
- Partner with Internal Communications, marketing coordinators, and fellow designers to translate messaging into clear, engaging visual solutions.
- Produce on-brand design across a variety of internal communication formats, ensuring consistency, readability, and usability.
- Contribute to brainstorming and ideation sessions, offering concepts that align with brand standards and communication goals.
- Create design mockups and prototypes for review by senior designers, managers, or internal stakeholders.
- Manage assigned projects to ensure deliverables are completed on time and within defined scope and budget.
- Maintain organized working files and contribute to shared asset and template systems to support team efficiency.
- Contribute to external campaigns and projects when internal work is idle or more capacity is needed.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Graphic Design, Advertising, or Marketing Communications.
Work Experience
- 1–3 years of professional design experience in a creative studio or in-house environment.
- Exposure to multimedia, motion graphics, or basic video editing is a plus.
- Experience in financial services, corporate communications, or another regulated environment is a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency on macOS using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint for presentation development.
- Working familiarity with video tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects.
- Understanding of photography principles and photo editing workflows.
- Strong conceptual thinking with the ability to simplify complex information visually.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and perform well under deadline pressure.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to take ideas from concept through final execution.
