Walt Disney World Manufacturing is seeking a Technical Estimator with a strong background in high‑complexity, low‑volume manufacturing. This role supports machining, welding, electrical, assembly, paint, and fiberglass scopes of work by building detailed, accurate cost estimates that enable informed decisions for business growth.
This position reports to the Manufacturing Manager.
What You Will Do
- Evaluate specifications, drawings, vendor quotes, and project requirements to define scope of work and develop comprehensive cost estimates
- Provide cost analysis and guidance to Project/Overhaul teams throughout all project phases, including support for change‑order negotiations
- Develop accurate estimates using incomplete or ambiguous information with minimal supervision
- Collaborate across multiple partners to create aligned estimates, manufacturing strategies, risk mitigation plans, and production forecasts
- Deliver clear, data‑driven analysis that supports cost certainty and serves as a trusted resource for project and senior leadership
- Understand client needs and balance budget, cost, and lead‑time constraints to support efficient service delivery
- Produce clear estimate scope narratives for both clients and manufacturing personnel
- Evaluate and refine estimating processes and workflows to improve efficiency and consistency
- Support Annual Operating Plan (AOP) development in partnership with Project/Overhaul teams
- Provide ongoing estimating support to Project/Overhaul teams as needed
- Participate in VPI Walks and provide analytical support
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Safety‑conscious professional who consistently prioritizes "Safety First"
- Experience as a technical estimator, planner, or in a similar role
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a maintenance, planning, or manufacturing environment with exposure to design and manufacturing principles
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and assembly drawings and resolve technical issues with partners
- Strong collaboration skills with experience working across multiple stakeholders and handling confidential information
- Ability to synthesize multiple data sources into clear insights and recommendations and communicate effectively to audiences at all levels
- Confident communicator with strong written and verbal presentation skills
- Experience maintaining accurate data and explaining data‑driven outcomes
- Experience with component procurement and cost normalization for fair comparison
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- High attention to detail and accuracy; ability to work independently
- Proficiency in standard office software and mobile electronic devices
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of Power BI and/or Tableau
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks/CAD
- Experience using Maximo and SAP
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience
