Role Purpose
Lead the development and industrialization of plastics manufacturing processes for molded A-Class exterior body panels, ensuring cosmetic quality, dimensional stability, and production robustness for a new vehicle program and greenfield manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Define plastics manufacturing process architecture, including molding, finishing, handling, and material flow strategies.
- Develop and maintain Process FMEA (PFMEA) and Control Plans with a strong focus on cosmetic appearance and dimensional quality.
- Support digital manufacturing validation, including mold flow analysis, process simulations, and early risk identification.
- Prepare early manufacturing readiness documentation to support tooling strategy, supplier readiness, and facility layout decisions.
- Ensure alignment between product design/styling intent, surface quality expectations, and manufacturing capability.
- Support supplier technical reviews, tool tryouts, pilot builds, and launch execution.
- Support structured cross-functional change-management and escalation for product, tooling, or process changes.
- Collaborate with Product Design, Quality, Supply Chain, and Construction teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Experience in plastic injection molding manufacturing engineering.
- Solid understanding of PFMEA, Control Plans, and manufacturing quality systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with A-Class exterior surface components and appearance-quality requirements.
- Familiarity with mold flow, digital validation tools, and supplier launch activities.
The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience, education, and qualifications.
Pay Range: $100,000 USD - $125,000 USD
