Title:
Civil Designer
KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is looking for a Civil Designer to support the Abadi LNG project, one of the largest projects in Asia. This project will provide front-end design (FEED) for onshore liquefied natural gas facilities & will have a peak production capacity targets of 9.5 million tons per annum of LNG and 150 million standard cubic feet per day of pipeline gas. The Abadi LNG project has been designated a project of national strategic importance by the Indonesian government.
The Civil Designer will lead the civil and structural design scope for LNG facilities including foundations, site grading, drainage, roads, and utility corridors.
Responsibilities:
Develop and review design drawings, 3D models, and deliverables such as general arrangements, sections, and details
Ensure designs are compliant with project requirements, codes (e.g., ACI, ASTM, BS, Eurocode), and safety standards
Coordinate with geotechnical, architectural, piping, and mechanical teams to ensure integrated design solutions
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and drafters
Interface with EPC contractors, consultants, and construction teams to resolve design issues and support field execution
Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and value engineering workshops.
Maintain quality control and ensure timely delivery of design packages
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or related engineering field
Minimum of 7 years of civil engineering experience, with average experience of 10+ years
Strong background in the LNG or Oil & Gas industry
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro, Tekla, or equivalent
Strong understanding of LNG facility layout, modularization, and coastal infrastructure
Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight schedules
Experience with greenfield LNG projects or large-scale industrial facilities
Familiarity with international codes and standards applicable to LNG terminals
Exposure to digital engineering platforms and model-based design workflows
