About the Opportunity
As part of our expanding Environment Division presence in Europe, we are seeking a credible Programme Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for major nuclear decommissioning and radioactive waste management Projects across Central and Eastern Europe.
This role is accountable for managing and delivering complex, high-value contracts, ensuring the effective preparation, organisation, supervision and coordination of all contracted activities. Acting as the senior delivery authority, the Programme Manager ensures that decommissioning and waste management strategies are clearly defined, technically robust, and aligned with regulatory, licensing and safety requirements.
The position integrates strategic programme support with disciplined contract execution, ensuring delivery excellence, regulatory compliance, stakeholder confidence and sustainable commercial performance across projects ranging from several million to hundreds of millions of euros in value.

You will be based near one of our regional offices and will require a commitment to being on client sites or in the offices between 2-3 days per week. Therefore international travel is to be expected.
This role offers long-term career potential, with opportunities to lead future project phases or transition onto other major programmes where we are a key delivery partner. Key responsibilities include:
Decommissioning & Waste Strategy Development: Support the definition, detailing and coordination of integrated decommissioning and radioactive waste management strategies, aligning engineering sequencing, licensing milestones and disposal pathways.
Operational Leadership: Prepare, organise, run, supervise and coordinate all contracted activities across multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, hire, train, manage and mentor personnel; establish clear accountability structures; negotiate and manage subcontracting arrangements.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Leading the establishment of strong and enduring relationships with the customer, partners, supply chain and stakeholders to ensure strategy delivery and position for future opportunities.
Here's What You'll Need
Master’s degree in Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline.
Recognised project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, IPMA Level B/C, or equivalent).
Fluency in English.
Professional experience leading projects in radioactive waste management and/or nuclear decommissioning.
Demonstrated leadership of projects of significant size and complexity (multi-million to hundreds of millions of euros).
Proven experience developing and coordinating integrated decommissioning, licensing and waste management strategies.
Strong experience operating within regulated nuclear environments and interfacing with licensing authorities.
Experience operating within EU institutional, development bank or internationally financed programme environments (e.g. EIB, EBRD, World Bank or similar), where applicable.
Educated to degree level with Civil Engineering.
Able to demonstrate a considerable track record of successful contract negotiations and effective contract administration.
Highly developed commercial skills and demonstrable ability to make sound decisions on matters of significant financial value.
Experienced in Contractor Management and Supply Chain.
Experienced at operating in at senior levels; comfortable in managing internal and external stakeholders effectively at a exec / senior level.
