In this critical role, you’ll serve as the technical authority for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of complex Collins avionics and electronic systems within the electrical AC/DC discipline. You’ll work at the intersection of hardware, software, and precision measurement—developing and supporting calibration interfaces, writing LabVIEW-based software, and ensuring our test equipment operates at peak performance to support mission-critical aerospace programs. When second-line support can’t resolve an issue, you’re the expert who steps in to diagnose, analyze, and deliver creative, technically sound solutions.
This is a career-level engineering role with meaningful impact. You’ll represent Collins as a prime technical contact—collaborating with internal customers and stakeholders, planning installations and training, validating technical documentation, and influencing long-term operational objectives. With your deep understanding of AC/DC theory, metrology principles, and avionics systems, you’ll help safeguard equipment reliability, product integrity, and customer satisfaction. If you thrive on solving complex technical challenges, enjoy working independently with broad responsibility, and want your expertise to directly support advanced aerospace technologies, this role offers both ownership and visibility in a high-performance environment.
This is an onsite role at our Melbourne, FL facility.
What You Will Do:
- Install, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, modify, and calibrate complex avionics and electronic test equipment within the AC/DC discipline
- Diagnose and resolve advanced hardware and software issues escalated beyond second-line product support
- Develop and support LabVIEW-based calibration software and equipment interfaces between Collins and non-Collins systems
- Provide technical guidance to field engineers, technicians, and product support teams on complex system diagnostics and corrective actions
- Conduct technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements to ensure compliance with customer specifications
- Plan and execute installation activities, customer training, and equipment modifications including preparation of installation drawings
- Prepare, review, and validate technical documentation and calibration support materials
- Serve as the primary technical liaison to customers and internal stakeholders for assigned projects and contracts
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams to report design, reliability, and maintenance issues and drive corrective solutions
- Independently plan and prioritize work activities while influencing operational objectives and long-term equipment reliability strategies
Qualifications You Must Have:
-
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

Prior experience troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating electronic equipment using detailed schematics, technical drawings, or work instructions

Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience developing calibration software using LabVIEW in a production or laboratory environment
- Background in metrology, including calibration principles, measurement uncertainty, and traceability standards
