Principal Civil Designer
We’re seeking an experienced Principal Civil Designer to join our Adelaide Civil team and contribute to major infrastructure and defence projects across Australia. If you’re a senior designer who enjoys solving complex design challenges, mentoring emerging talent, and delivering high‑quality project outcomes, this is an excellent opportunity to make an impact.
The Opportunity:
As a Principal Civil Designer, you will work under the guidance of the Discipline Manager and Lead Civil Designer to deliver civil design packages across a variety of infrastructure projects. You’ll lead by example, contribute innovative ideas, and provide technical oversight to support project success.
You'll apply strong judgement to engineering design, solve unique technical problems, and coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. This role is suited to someone who enjoys both hands‑on design and guiding others.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Produce high‑quality civil design models and drawings using 12D/OpenRoads and AutoCAD
Apply Australian Standards, KBR procedures, and industry best practice
Plan, schedule and complete design tasks within time, cost and quality requirements
Identify and resolve design issues across civil infrastructure packages
Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders
Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to junior drafters and designers
Contribute to the continuous improvement of drafting quality, processes, and efficiency
Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and uphold a strong safety culture
What You’ll Bring:
You have a strong foundation in civil design, a practical mindset, and enjoy collaborating to deliver meaningful project outcomes. You balance innovation with sound engineering judgement and are confident working across complex design challenges.
Diploma or Associate Diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Design
Minimum 10+ years’ experience across civil infrastructure design
Proficiency with 12D or OpenRoads
Experience with AutoCAD (2025) and ProjectWise
Strong understanding of Australian Standards and civil engineering design principles
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and support a design team
