About this roleWells Fargo is seeking a Technology Director to lead engineering strategy, architecture, and execution for large-scale data center migration and platform modernization initiatives within Consumer Technology. This role serves as a senior engineering leader driving both the DCMS (Data Center Modernization & Simplification) program and broader platform integration patterns that enable modern, consistent, and resilient cloud-ready capabilities across the organization. We are looking for a seasoned, hands-on technology leader who excels at system design, engineering strategy, cross-functional delivery, and building high-performing teams. This leader will guide complex engineering efforts across multiple product lines, influence enterprise architecture direction, and ensure alignment across CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and automation ecosystems.
In this role, you will:Strategic Engineering Leadership- Provide overall engineering strategy, design authority, and execution oversight for data center exit programs and modernization initiatives.
- Define and drive engineering patterns, solution architectures, and technical guardrails supporting DCMS activities.
- Lead platform integration work in partnership with cross-enterprise leaders, ensuring shared platform alignment and consistent adoption patterns.
Cross-Functional Delivery Leadership- Direct geographically dispersed engineering teams and partner groups to deliver time-critical migration milestones.
- Remove blockers, drive technical decision-making, and ensure predictable, coordinated execution across Technology, Architecture, Product, and Platform teams.
- Influence enterprise priorities and orchestrate alignment across complex stakeholder environments.
Architecture & Engineering Excellence- Oversee solution designs across Java, Big Data, open architecture, and cloud-ready stacks.
- Ensure engineering outputs meet standards for scalability, resiliency, availability, and long-term sustainability.
- Guide teams through modernization patterns, dependency analysis, and readiness assessments critical to migration success
Operational Continuity, Risk Management & Quality- Identify engineering, architectural, and delivery risks; implement proactive controls to ensure safe and disruption-free migrations.
- Maintain engineering integrity across observability, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and automation capabilities.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to elevate engineering craftsmanship.
People Leadership & Talent Development- Manage managers and senior individual contributors in a high-complexity, high-pressure environment.
- Develop engineering talent, promote a culture of accountability, and ensure strong team cohesion across onshore and offshore teams.
- Partner with vendors and manage SOWs to ensure quality and value in external engineering deliveries
Executive Communication & Influence- Deliver clear, concise, insight-driven updates to senior leadership.
- Translate complex engineering and architectural topics into business-aligned narratives.
- Influence enterprise-level decisions related to readiness, risk, modernization strategy, and multi-year platform direction.
Required Qualifications:- 8+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent (work experience, training, military, education).
- 4+ years of management or leadership experience.
- 4+ years of DevOps and Platform Engineering tooling implementation and configuration experience
- 4+ years of hands-on software engineering or solution architecture experience.
Desired Qualifications:- 10+ years of technology experience, including 4+ years leading teams in a financial services environment.
- Deep experience leading engineering, architecture, or platform teams in large-scale, complex technology environments.
- Strong technical background across modern languages and distributed systems (Go, Python, Java), with the ability to guide teams building APIs, automation, and platform services.
- Strong background in modernization initiatives, cloud-ready architectures, and infrastructure automation.
- Expertise with Kubernetes/OpenShift, IaC (e.g. Terraform, Crossplane), CI/CD, GitOps, and enterprise observability practices.
- Experience with CI/CD, observability tooling, automation frameworks, IaC (Terraform, Ansible, etc.), and enterprise platform governance.
- Proven success leading multi-region engineering delivery for complex, time-sensitive programs.
- Demonstrated success managing onshore and offshore teams and vendor engineering models.
- Experience creating and delivering technology roadmaps and strategic engineering plans.
- Experience operating within regulated or risk-sensitive environments.
Job Expectations:- Ability to travel up to 20% for key events and teamwork as needed.
- Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in-office per week

Pay RangeReflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$215,000.00 - $355,000.00
