Summer 2026 Undergraduate Internship – RTX BBN Analytics and Machine Intelligence (AMI) – Arlington, VA
RTX BBN, a subsidiary of RTX Corporation, is the research company behind many revolutionary advances that we take for granted today. BBN is where email was invented and the first routers were implemented. Today, BBN's scientists and engineers are working to advance the state-of-the-art on topics ranging from machine language translation to quantum cryptography. Our AMI group is seeking current undergraduate students for summer internship position in its Arlington, VA office. The successful candidate will be self-motivated with an ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team solving complex technical challenges.

In support of chiefly DoD and Intelligence Community missions, our AMI team specializes in the deployment of field-tested, third-wave AI solutions to enable the advanced machine reasoning needed for the fully autonomous trusted systems of tomorrow.

Within AMI, we combine structured semantics with mathematical formalisms to enable explainable decision making, sense-making and course of action analysis in real-time.

You will be working with globally recognized R&D leaders in their field to develop the technologies of tomorrow for our defense and intelligence communities.
What You Will Learn:

You will work side by side with leading scientists, engineers, and program managers of all levels to utilize semantic graph technology.

To build modern, Java-based software that leverages AI to enable Strategic Decision making and Semantic Autonomy applications.
Qualifications You Must Have:

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in Java, Python, and/or C++

Interest in Data Science or Linked Data

Interest and Experience with AgenticAI

Familiarity with web application development, HTTP stack, SQL and/or SPARQL

Knowledge of, experience in, or interest in learning about the aerospace, defense, and intelligence community

The salary range for this role is 42,000 USD - 88,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
