We have an exciting opportunity for a
Summer 2026 - Process Automation Intern to join the team!
This is a temporary role not to exceed 13 weeks.
The
Summer 2026 - Process Automation Intern will:
- Support the Systems Test Branch (EC4) at the Johnson Space Center as a Process Automation Intern working with calibration data and drawings used for testing of hardware and human test subjects in our space simulation chambers
- Review existing processes used by Crew and Thermal Systems Division Systems Test Branch and identify opportunities for automation
- Create/Update software to improve efficiencies and workflow
- Use AIML for extracting reference designators from drawings and configuration control documents, and to perform systems identification
Requisition Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited university.
- Completed at least 45 credit hours.
- Minimum of 2.8 GPA.
- Working towards a BS or MS degree in computer science from an accredited university
- Computer programming experience
- Experience with Excel Macros and Visual Basic
- Familiarity with SQL and Database concepts (records, tables, fields etc.)
- Knowledge of http and web application development
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Requisition Preferences:
- Familiarity with NASA Johnson Space Center organizations, processes and procedures
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning techniques
- Export/import of with SQL and Excel via APIs (Application Programming Interface)
- HTML5, Python, Visual Basic, JavaScript experience

Essential Functions Work Environment Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Attendance Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
