Job Description
NBC News is seeking an Associate Producer to assist in all aspects of production of long form content.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to production of original content for air, including story development
- Aid in extensive editorial research
- Conduct pre-interviews and on-camera interviews
- Participate in shooting, factchecking and editing, as directed
- Produce short web-extras, as needed, under the direction of the Senior Producer
- Coordinate with technical, operations staff and external resources
- Significant travel for booking, productions and to attend trials
PLEASE NOTE: This is a short-term position with an estimated duration of 24 months or less, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.
Qualifications
- Must have a journalism background and at least 3 years’ editorial production experience for a network or cable operation
- Must be proficient in Outlook and iNews
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience
- Must be willing to work in New York
- Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice
- Must be able to provide a reel/portfolio of work examples -- if available, include a web address when you submit your resume
Desired Characteristics:
- Some shooting experience
- Ability to shoot both breaking news and documentary style b-roll
- Familiarity with video editing
- Strong journalistic writing skills, research skills and editorial judgment
- Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask and effectively prioritize assignments in a dynamic environment
Additional Requirements:
- Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
What we’ll offer: Production Employee (PEP) Regular who works more than 1,000 hours per measurement period:
- Eligible for 401K after 1,000 hours worked in 12 consecutive months
- Eligible for Health and Welfare benefits on 1st day of employment
- Eligible to participate in Employee Stock Purchase Program after 90 days of employment
Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000
