Job Description Summary
The Sr. Mechanical Reliability Engineer plays a key role in implementing Reliability strategy at the Huntsville Site. This role reports to the Site Facilities Engineering Manager in a new PSM-covered plant and will facilitate RCM studies to develop and implement asset strategies to increase equipment availability and drive OEE improvement. The Sr. Mechanical Reliability Engineer will support production, maintenance, and capital projects while acting as a mentor and subject matter expert for Reliability processes. Practical knowledge of reliability processes (RCFA, FMEA, LCCA) and predictive technologies (ultrasound, vibration analysis, thermography).

Roles and Responsibilities
Reliability Strategy & RCM Deployment
- Lead sustainableRCM implementationacross the site and own the deployment of reliability strategies to meet or exceed compliance and regulatory requirements
- Define and maintainasset strategiesand reliability standards that align with plant performance goals
Predictive & Preventive Maintenance
- Evaluate and applypredictive maintenance (PdM) technologies(e.g., vibration, ultrasound, thermography) to monitor asset health
- Analyze equipment performance usingPareto methodsto prioritize work activities and resource allocation
- Develop and refinepreventive maintenance (PM) work proceduresto be executed by maintenance technicians
Reliability Support for Plant Changes & Projects
- SupportManagement of Change (MOC)activities from a reliability perspective, ensuring long-term asset performance and risk mitigation
- Partner withCapital Project Engineeringto define specifications andreliability/maintainability standardsfor new and modified equipment
Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving
- Lead and/or participate inRoot Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)andFailure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)teams
- Providetroubleshooting supportand technical assistance for unusual, chronic, or high-impact equipment problems
- Work with Reliability Specialists and Maintenance Technicians to address deviations in equipment performance and implement corrective actions
Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Collect and analyzereliability data, maintenance costs, and failure historiesto identify trends, bad actors, and improvement opportunities
- Use insights from data to drivecontinuous improvement initiatives, cost reductions, and increased equipment uptime
Coaching, Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Activelycoach and mentorothers to build reliability knowledge, facilitate learning, and prevent repeat failures
- Effectively communicate withOperations, Maintenance, and Engineeringon reliability strategies, plant performance measures, and asset objectives
- Influence cross-functional teams without direct authority to drive adherence to reliability best practices
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or a related technical field (or a high school diploma/GED with aminimum of 4 years of reliability experiencein a chemical manufacturing site)
Experience
- Overallminimum of 5 years of reliability experiencein a chemical manufacturing site
Desired Characteristics
Technical & Reliability Expertise
- Practical knowledge ofreliability processessuch as RCFA, FMEA, and Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA)
- Hands-on experience withpredictive technologiesincluding ultrasound, vibration analysis, and thermography
- Experience withCMMS systemsand maintenance work management processes
- CMRP or CRL certificationstrongly preferred
Experience & Industry Background
- 10–15 years of reliability experiencein a chemical manufacturing environment is highly desired
