The Ground Data Systems and Services Organization is responsible for the architecture, development, deployment, and operation of Ground Data Systems (GDS) across all customer programs. We provide secure, scalable, and standardized solutions for programs across the Commercial Civil Space line of business, serving as a centralized hub of engineering expertise that enables mission success through innovative, cost-competitive, technologies and services.
Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a full-time Early Career Software Engineer. This position will support tools including command line, GUI-based, and web-based applications that perform spacecraft telemetry data processing and analysis. All tasks will require working closely with the end users of all tools and responding to their feedback. In addition to adapting and modernizing existing tools for new missions, candidates will travel (< 25%, including 2nd and 3rd shift times) to support on-console and on-call operational activities during critical mission activities.
In this role, you will:
• Perform software code, unit test, and integration test development for a variety of ground applications, tools and scripts in support of spacecraft test, analysis and operations
• Support software requirements development and formal verification development and tests
• Assist in operational support to spacecraft teams to deployed environments, including internally developed and 3rd party ground software. Includes ensuring real-time dataflows, data management process, querying processes, command building tools, and analysis tools
• Support troubleshooting of deployed ground system hardware, operating systems, and networks, coordinating with System Admins to resolve issues
• Understand spacecraft flight software and operations and how they integrate with the ground software system
• Integrate flight software updates into attitude prediction and environmental torque models
• Perform SW development and maintenance in a variety of languages (Java, Python, Perl, C++, C, JavaScript, Groovy)
• Develop web-based RESTful services, GUI interfaces, tools to transform data, automation pipelines for spacecraft operations, and more
• Deploy and integrate software to operational environments, and provide operational support to systems and subsystems engineers within Orion
• Perform tasks in accordance with Orion and Lockheed Martin software development best practices and defined SW development processes
• Investigate opportunities to integrate AI into data processing and data analysis.
The successful candidate will have experience/knowledge in the following:
• Software development and maintenance experience in Python and Java.
• Experience with Linux environments and comfortable with basic Unix commands, utilities, and system administration activities
• Experience developing in and supporting software in a Linux environment, including basic shell scripting
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner to varying levels of teammates, management, and customers

Basic Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Software development and maintenance experience in Python and Java.
- Strong user support skills able to directly address user concerns.
- Experience with Linux environments and comfortable with basic Unix commands, utilities, and system administration activities.
- Experience developing in and supporting software in a Linux environment, including basic shell scripting
- Experience with software development practices: version control systems (Git, Gitlab), issue tracking (JIRA), procedure/wiki documentation (Confluence)

- Experience in developing SW for support of spacecraft operations, including telemetry and data processing, data analysis

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $62,700 - $110,630. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
