Role:
Executes solutions on packaging design and usage and related safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
What the candidate will do:
- Establish packaging and processing specifications at the part number level for new product introductions, cost savings, or other supply chain opportunities.
- Create packaging concepts using 3D modeling software (i.e. Pro-E)
- Communicate with existing facilities on packaging issues
- Perform cost analysis on current packaging processes and recommend changes where appropriate
- Lead Green Belt projects
- Review packaging so parts are protected, shipped, and delivered to the customer in a usable fashion
- Design packaging for transport efficiency
- Perform containerization analysis, testing, and quoting
- Validate new packaging and containers
- Coordinate with operations for storage and ergonomic considerations
- Resolve safety and / or quality issues caused by current packaging
- Resolve issues reported by customers and process partners
- Develop, communicate and maintain supplier packaging requirements
- Audit conformance to packaging specification
- Joint Process Improvement with packaging vendors and purchasing
Education requirement:
- Bachelor Degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain or other field
- Intermediate–Advanced Conversational Level
What skills the ideal candidate will have:
Service Excellence:
- Knowledge of packaging, supply chain, and manufacturing technologies, as well as various application methods; ability to develop and deliver cost‑effective solutions to significant technical challenges (minimum 3 years).
- Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Effective Communications:
- Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Packaging :
- Knowledge of packaging tools, approaches and industry best practices; ability to package products and components safely and attractively; Extensive understanding of packaging and transportation best practice/challenges.
- Knowledge of company and industry packaging databases and applications used in a manufacturing environment; ability to operate, maintain and update these systems.
Top Candidates will also have:
- Proficiency in the CREO system; Advanced English level
- Knowledge in conducting cost analyses and preparing business cases
- Ability to collaborate with suppliers to implement packaging and logistics improvements
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to develop and deploy creative, original solutions to complex problems
- Background in operations within a manufacturing environment
- Additional packaging design expertise in automotive or similar industry
