Title:
Senior Civil Designer - Offshore / Onshore
Division
KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is looking for Offshore Structural Designer to support a Major Offshore Oil & Gas Development Project involving FPSO facilities, jacket platforms, topside modules, and fixed offshore installations. The project includes execution of Detailed Engineering phases under complex marine and environmental conditions, requiring integrated 3D modelling environments, multidisciplinary coordination, strict compliance with offshore design standards, and adherence to fast-track delivery schedules across global execution centers.
Summary Section
We are seeking an experienced Offshore Structural Designer with strong capabilities in offshore structural 3D modelling and preparation of detailed engineering drawings for FPSO modules, jacket structures, and topside facilities. The role involves development and maintenance of structural models and production of construction deliverables using industry-standard modelling platforms.
The position requires close coordination with structural engineers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate model development, constructability, and compliance with offshore project specifications using E3D or Smart 3D (S3D) modelling platforms and AutoCAD for drawing preparation.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain offshore structural 3D models for FPSO modules, jackets, topsides, pipe support structures, decks, platforms, and secondary steel structures using AVEVA E3D or Smart 3D (S3D).
- Prepare structural drawings including General Arrangement (GA) drawings, fabrication drawings, structural layouts, sections, connection details, and installation drawings using AutoCAD.
- Model primary and secondary offshore steel structures based on engineering design inputs and project specifications.
- Coordinate with structural engineers, piping, layout, mechanical, electrical, and installation disciplines to ensure proper model integration and interface management.
- Incorporate vendor data, equipment interface requirements, and engineering inputs into structural models and drawings.
- Support lifting and transportation studies by preparing model updates and drawing deliverables as required by engineering teams.
- Participate in interdisciplinary model reviews and clash detection activities to ensure constructability and offshore installation feasibility.
- Extract drawings, reports, and Material Take-Offs (MTOs) from 3D models and ensure accuracy of deliverables.
- Update models and drawings based on engineering comments, fabrication inputs, and project revisions during Detailed Engineering stages.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, offshore project standards, and modelling guidelines.
- Provide drafting and modelling support during fabrication and construction phases including resolution of yard or site queries.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 12–15 years of experience in offshore structural design and drafting for oil & gas projects.
- Hands-on experience in offshore structural modelling using AVEVA E3D or Smart 3D (S3D).
- Strong proficiency in preparation of structural drawings using AutoCAD.
- Experience in modelling offshore structures such as FPSO modules, jackets, topsides, decks, and platform steel structures.
- Good understanding of offshore structural layouts, fabrication drawings, and construction practices.
- Ability to interpret engineering design inputs, structural calculations, and vendor drawings.
- Familiarity with Detailed Engineering workflows.
- Good coordination and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on FPSO or fixed offshore platform projects.
- Exposure to offshore fabrication yard practices and installation requirements.
- Experience in brownfield offshore modification or revamp projects.
- Familiarity with offshore modelling standards and model review processes.
- Experience in extraction and verification of MTOs from 3D modelling systems.
- Experience working with international clients and multi-office engineering execution environments.
