Job Description
KBR is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join the DI&S Business Unit Controllership team.
The Ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the accounting close process, backlog reporting, SOX control, unbilled reconciliation, and various special projects. Experience in government contracting, Deltek Costpoint, Power Bi and Oracle Hyperion Financial Management are highly desirable.
Key responsibilities:
- Accounting Close Process:
- Oversee and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Backlog Reporting:
- Perform backlog calculation, interpret backlog data, and analysis on projects.
- Collaborate with project finance and contracts team to ensure accurate backlog information.
- Ensure backlog is compliant and accurate for monthly and quarterly management reporting.
- SOX Control:
- Maintain and enhance internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
- Perform periodic SOX testing and documentation.
- Assist with audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Unbilled Reconciliation:
- Conduct regular unbilled reconciliation and analysis.
- Work closely with billing and project finance teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Special Projects:
- Lead and participate in various special projects assigned by management.
- Provide financial analysis and support for strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field.
- CPA certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, FAR, CAS and accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with government contracting.
- Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint, Cognos Power BI and Oracle Hyperion Financial Management.
