Description:You will be the Mechanical Design Engineer Liaison for the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) Enhanced Operational Capability (EOC) team. Our team drives rapid rate missile and pod integration, turning concepts into flight ready hardware while tightly aligning production, central engineering, and global supply chain partners.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Mechanical Design Engineer Liaison you will be the primary mechanical design conduit between the Grand Prairie production floor and the central engineering hub. You’ll protect the line from part level discrepancies, resolve design related production hurdles, and keep the missile assembly flow moving smoothly on a demanding 11 pm 9 am second shift schedule.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Act as the first line of defense for part variance and design issue escalation on the missile and pod integration lines.
• Track, assess, and close Material Review Board Engineering (MRBE) quality notifications and supplier deviation waivers.
• Provide day to day production support for the second shift crew, coordinating with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Production Planning, and Global Supply Chain.
• Manipulate, update, and validate 3D models in CREO; interpret engineering drawings and GD&T to ensure manufacturability.
• Conduct tolerance analyses and recommend corrective actions that balance performance, cost, and schedule.
• Communicate technical information clearly across diverse stakeholder groups—engineers, suppliers, shop floor personnel, and leadership.
• Travel occasionally to supplier sites to verify drawings, resolve fit issues, and support supplier qualification activities.
• Maintain and leverage Apriso (or similar MES) data to drive real time visibility of part status and production metrics.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance design hand offs and reduce rework.
