Work You’ll Do
Assist clients to manage state tax liability and compliance challenges due to states with unique tax laws, the enforcement focus of state departments of revenue, the growing number of audits, and increased merger and acquisition activity. Provide services relating to business restructuring, credits and incentives, sales and use tax, sales and use tax outsourcing, state income and franchise tax, state strategic tax review, and state tax controversy. Provide compliance and consulting services to corporate and partnership clients. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Assist with overseeing complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries as well as research and analyze a wide range of tax issues, such as deferred tax liability issues and tax implications of financing techniques, for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Offer unique insight into the many factors affecting taxation, from the tax policies that drive tax legislation, to understanding the technical nuances that may create compliance exposure. Assume tax-planning responsibilities for corporate and partnership clients.
Requirements
Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law, Business Administration, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus one (1) year of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience applying federal, state, and local tax rules to corporate and partnership clients.
Experience must include one (1) year of:
- Preparing and reviewing tax returns, estimates, extensions, and provisions for corporations and partnerships in multistate jurisdictions;
- Performing tax research utilizing tax software and tools, including GoSystem, RIA CheckPoint, BNA, and CCH;
- Preparing and filing withholding and composite returns for partnerships and limited liability companies in multistate jurisdictions;
- Preparing state income and franchise tax returns for corporations and partnerships based on varying state regulations for the apportionment of income and nexus creating activities;
- Analyzing complex state issues, including due diligence considerations, unitary filings, and flow through taxation;
- Performing state taxation services, including state apportionments and modifications based on varying state regulations;
- Assisting with mediating between clients and state revenue departments to resolve state tax notices, audit defense, and other tax-related issues and inquiries;
- Preparing and filing K-1s, withholding, and composite returns for partnerships and limited liability companies, including private equity and real estate funds; and
- Mentoring and coaching junior team members.
