Strategic Planning Consultant (Strategic Analyst – Principal)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Strategic Planning Consultant / Strategic Analyst (Principal level) to support a major wildfire mitigation and Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) program for a leading California utility organization.
This role will focus on regulatory reporting, strategic planning, and policy development related to PSPS events, working closely with internal leadership, regulatory bodies, and cross-functional teams.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in regulatory environments, utility programs, and strategic analysis, particularly related to wildfire mitigation, emergency response, or power system operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support regulatory filings and compliance reporting related to PSPS events
- Develop strategic plans, policies, and program initiatives aligned with company goals
- Analyze complex operational, regulatory, and business challenges and propose solutions
- Lead cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives impacting wildfire mitigation programs
- Collaborate with regulators, industry partners, and internal stakeholders
- Provide data analysis and support for regulatory testimony development
- Improve processes, procedures, and operational strategies to enhance compliance and efficiency
- Act as a subject matter expert for PSPS program strategy and regulatory matters
- Support leadership and executives with strategic insights and decision support
Required Qualifications
✔ Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Engineering, Policy, or related field
✔ 8+ years of experience in strategy, program management, regulatory analysis, or utilities
✔ Strong understanding of PSPS (Public Safety Power Shutoff) programs
✔ Experience working in regulated environments and regulatory reporting
✔ Ability to work independently and manage complex strategic initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
✔ 10+ years of relevant experience
✔ Experience in electric utilities or energy sector
✔ Knowledge of wildfire mitigation programs or emergency operations
✔ Graduate degree in Economics, Policy, Business, or related discipline
Additional Details
- Remote role – open to local and non-local candidates
- Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Laptop: Candidate must start using a personal/vendor laptop until company equipment is issued.
