Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud and AI services through planning, building, and operating Microsoft’s cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI) infrastructure datacenters across the globe.
CO+I is supported by multiple business verticals including supply planning and strategic acquisition, global construction, datacenter and edge site operations, critical environment and availability, engineering, and datacenter innovation.

Business Analyst II that will report to the Technical Program Manager and will use data to solve business problems, deliver actionable insights, and guide decisions. It involves creating dashboards, reports, and presentations to highlight trends, risks, and opportunities while collaborating with teams to improve tools and processes. The focus is on turning data into clear, impactful strategies for business success.
Within
Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I), the
Strategy, Planning and Executive Office (SPEO) team is responsible for delivering data-driven insights, scalable platforms, and operational tooling that improve the efficiency and performance of Microsoft’s cloud business.
Our team builds and operates strategic platforms and dashboards — including OKR insights, budget planning tools, and executive reporting experiences — that enable datacenter performance reviews, leadership decision-making, and cross-organization planning. We partner closely with engineering, finance, and business stakeholders to transform complex data into actionable insights that drive business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders across CO+I to gather business requirements and translate them into analytical frameworks, dashboards, and reporting solutions.
- Analyze operational, financial, and performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that inform leadership decisions.
- Support executive review rhythms (e.g., fundamentals reviews, planning cycles) by developing insights, summaries, and data narratives.
- Contribute to the design and evolution of platforms such as OKR tracking, budget planning, and datacenter insights hubs.
- Build and maintain data models, queries, and reports using tools such as Power BI, Excel, Fabric, or similar analytics platforms.
- Drive data quality and governance practices by collaborating with data owners and engineering partners.
- Create clear documentation, visualizations, and presentations that communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting processes and improve operational efficiency through scalable solutions.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
- Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
- OR equivalent experience.
Background Check Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 3+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 5+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem, including, but not limited to the development and maintenance of Fabric Notebooks, Lakehouses and Delta tables, Semantic Models, Power BI Reports and Dashboards, AI/ML modeling within Fabric, Prompt engineering, Data Pipelines
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience building solutions with the Power Platform, including but not limited to Power Apps, Power Automate Microsoft Dataverse
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of business strategy and product management.
- 2+ years of experience with large-scale distributed systems.
- 2+ years of experience building dashboards, writing queries and analyzing structured and unstructured data.
Business Analytics IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,100 - $169,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $112,000 - $185,300 per year.
