The Role:
As an Engineering Manager, Power Attainment in the Datacenter and GPU Accelerated Processing Division, you will be leading and managing a team of highly talented and motivated engineers who are passionate about working on cutting-edge products. In this role, you will own system‑level electrical validation, power management feature tuning, and power modeling correlation, operating at the intersection of architecture, firmware, silicon validation, platform design, performance, and customer engineering. You will guide critical power‑performance tradeoffs, influence architectural decisions, and deliver robust, production‑ready platforms that operate within strict datacenter and facility‑level power constraints. You will directly shape how next‑generation GPUs and SoCs balance electrical stability, performance, power, and reliability at scale, influencing products that define industry‑leading perf/Watt for large, multi‑GPU datacenter platforms.
This is a senior engineering leadership role requiring deep technical credibility, hands‑on system experience, and the ability to influence product‑level decisions while building and leading a high‑performing engineering team.
The Person:
The ideal person for the Engineering Manager, Power Attainment role is passionate about People and Technology. You are a people leader who can manage, mentor and motivate a team of engineers, build a high performing team and deliver on business-critical programs. You have strong Power fundamentals, understanding of Power Management features and hands on experience optimizing them, silicon validation experience, good understanding of PID controllers, PDN, Physical design, Semiconductor Process, Thermal/Power interactions, Power/Performance optimization & Power Models. You have excellent communication skills, critical problem-solving skills, data analysis and visualization skills, able to multi-task and work with cross-domain, cross-functional teams to build great products. You also have program management skills to plan the tasks, track deliverables and meet project timelines.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, hire, mentor, and grow a team of power and electrical validation engineers, setting priorities and driving execution across multiple silicon and platform programs
- Own system‑level power management and electrical stability for datacenter GPU/CPU platforms, from bring‑up through production
- Drive power management feature tuning, debug, and optimization across GPUs and APUs
- Lead active and static power characterization, throttler optimization, and performance‑impact analysis
- Execute system‑level power modeling correlation and ROI analysis to guide architectural and product roadmap decisions
- Partner closely with power management architects, firmware teams, silicon design, board design, performance engineering, and product definition
- Support critical customer engagements pre‑ and post‑production, including escalation debug and sustaining support
- Present clear, data‑driven executive‑level readouts on progress, risks, and next steps
- Drive process improvements, automation, and AI‑assisted debug and analysis workflows
Required Leadership & Execution Skills
- Proven experience leading and developing high‑performing engineering teams
- Ability to lead senior engineers and technical leads through technical depth and influence
- Strong cross‑functional collaboration and communication skills
- Program management capability: planning, execution, tracking, and delivery across complex schedules
- Comfortable operating at both deep technical review and executive summary levels
Required Technical Skills
- Strong fundamentals in system‑level power management and perf/Watt optimization
- Hands‑on experience with GPU / APU / SoC silicon validation
- Solid understanding of:
- Power management features and control loops
- PID controllers
- Power Distribution Networks (PDN)
- Power, thermal, and performance interactions
- Power estimation, modeling, and correlation
- Experience with electrical lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, high‑speed probes, function generators, and data acquisition systems
- Experience optimizing systems operating under datacenter‑scale and facility‑level power constraints
Experience & Qualifications
- 3+ years of people management experience in fast‑paced engineering environments
- 10+ years of hands‑on engineering experience in the semiconductor industry
- Demonstrated ability to deliver multiple complex programs on schedule
- Experience hiring, building, and scaling technical teams
- Experience with long‑range planning and budget management (OPEX / CAPEX)
Education
- BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (MS preferred)
