Job Title: Trash & Waste Specialist
Job Summary
The Trash & Waste Specialist is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient collection, removal, and disposal of waste materials. This role ensures cleanliness, sanitation, and compliance with environmental and safety standards across assigned facilities or grounds.
Key Job Duties
- Collect, transport, and dispose of trash, recyclables, and waste materials from designated areas
- Ensure waste containers are emptied, cleaned, and properly maintained
- Safely operate waste-handling equipment (carts, compactors, balers, dumpsters, etc.)
- Identify and separate recyclable materials according to company or site guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness around waste collection points and disposal areas
- Report damaged containers, equipment issues, or safety hazards to supervisors promptly
- Follow all safety procedures related to lifting, equipment operation, and handling waste materials
- Assist with special clean-up projects, bulk waste removal, and seasonal waste-related tasks
- Support environmental compliance efforts by adhering to waste‑sorting and disposal standards
- Communicate any concerns or unusual waste findings (e.g., hazardous materials) to leadership
- Maintain accurate logs or documentation when required for waste volume or pick‑up schedules
Qualifications
- Prior experience in waste removal, janitorial, or groundskeeping roles preferred
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions and around waste materials
