About your role:
As a Data Engineer (Cloud Data Platforms), you will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines across modern cloud platforms including Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, and Kafka. You will work closely with analytics, fraud, risk, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality, reliable data. Your work will enable trusted analytics, reporting, and machine learning solutions that support critical business decisions.
What you'll do:
- Design, build, and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines using Azure data services, Databricks (Spark), Snowflake, and Kafka.
- Develop end-to-end data flows from source systems through ingestion, transformation, and storage layers to support analytics, reporting, and machine learning use cases.
- Implement and optimize ETL/ELT processes and data models to ensure performant, cost-efficient, and scalable cloud data solutions.
- Build data solutions using cloud-native patterns such as data lakes, lakehouse architectures, and data warehouses, integrating relational, semi-structured, and streaming sources.
- Develop and support real-time and near-real-time data pipelines using Kafka or similar streaming technologies, managing schema evolution, late-arriving data, and fault tolerance.
- Implement data validation, monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability in production environments, and troubleshoot pipeline issues as needed.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, software engineers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements, participate in design reviews, and document data flows, schemas, and operational processes.
- Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.
Experience you'll need to have:
- 2+ years of experience in data engineering, data management, or a related role.
- Hands‑on experience building data pipelines using SQL and Python.
- Experience working with cloud data platforms (Azure preferred).
- Familiarity with Databricks / Apache Spark for data processing.
- Experience with data warehouses such as Snowflake.
- Basic experience or exposure to Kafka or streaming data pipelines.
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, data modeling, and data lifecycle management.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Experience with CI/CD practices for data pipelines and version control (for example, Git, Azure DevOps, or similar tools).
- Experience with lakehouse architectures and columnar data formats (such as Parquet or similar technologies).
- Familiarity with data governance practices, metadata management, and access controls within regulated environments.
- Experience supporting fraud, risk, or financial services analytics use cases.
How you'll work:
- This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
