As a Business Data Scientist and member of the Commercial Technology team, you will work with our Gathering & Processing organization and play a key role in evolving our internal forecasting and commercial analytics platform, Unify. This position plays an important role in evolving our core system powering commercial analytics such as volume forecasting, allocation modeling, commodity optimization, imbalance management, and customer impact analysis. Responsibilities/Expectations:
- Develops, implements, and supports business intelligence reporting, sophisticated analytical models and data architecture to ensure availability and model support
- Creates scalable, efficient, and automated processes for large scale data analyses for model development, validation, and implementation
- Enhances user interfaces and data visualization tools to improve the effectiveness of data analyses
- Trains users to transform data into actionable information for critical business decisions and explores available data to identify patterns, anomalies, and trends
- Develops descriptive, predictive and/or prescriptive statistical models to address business problems
- Works with large data sets in a hybrid cloud, using machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) methods to help define requirements and set expectations
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Years of Experience:
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Construction Science, Business and five (5) years' of related experience supporting database development and data analytics; and/or natural gas industry experience
- Preferred: Master's Degree in Business Administration, Data Science, Information Technology, and ten (10) years' work experience in data science and/or business intelligence developer and/or natural gas fundamentals modeling
Other Requirements:
- Demonstrates outstanding organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
- Basic knowledge of databases (SQL, Oracle, Cube) and multi-dimensional database structures
- Experience with business intelligence tools, reports, and dashboards
- Preferred: Proficiency in Azure analytics platforms (e.g., Synapse, Databricks, Data Factory)
- Preferred: Experience in project management, engineering, project controls, or construction sequencing
- Preferred: Proficiency in writing DAX measures and queries
- Preferred: Familiarity with pipelines, compression, and processing
